Charlie Russell Aims to Please:

Produced with Mischief Theatre, it had a sold out run at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival 2022.

Bluff:

He wrote music/lyrics for a new radio play musical with Matt Cavendish, recorded with a full orchestra and cast including Alex Young and Ryan Kopel.

ORCHESTRATOR:


Passion:

Hope Mill Theatre revival of the Stephen Sondheim musical starring Ruthie Henshall. The Times said "the scaled-down arrangements for just five musicians are a fine match for such an intimate venue".

Pippin:

In 2023 he re-orchestrated and music directed the first French language production of Pippin in Switzerland, working with composer Stephen Schwartz.


ACTOR:


Ed has also acted, recently playing Benjamin Britten in Jonathan Ainscough's A Letter From Ben at the Royal Opera House's Clore Studio. In 2019 he won theatreweekly's 'Best Musical Performance at the Fringe' for his role in Piano_Play, a one man play by Calum Finlay performed at the Underbelly in Edinburgh and The Other Palace.


TEACHING:


Ed has also worked at various drama schools, including ArtsEd, Italia Conti and most regularly at the Guildford School of Acting, where he wrote music for productions of Treasure Island and Babe.
